Calendar Abbreviations
As a help for new Band
Booster parents, here are some of the most often used abbreviations and what they
mean:
BH - Band Hall
CG - Color Guard
WG - Winter Guard (that's what the Color Guard does after marching season is
over)
And these are the organizations
associated with Winter Guard competitions:
WGI - Winter
Guard International
TCGC - Texas
Color Guard Circuit
DM - Drum Major
DI - Drill Instructor (student leaders selected by the
directors who help with marching instruction, uniform inspection, etc.,
during marching season)
DL - Drum Line
FB - Football
THSSO - Taylor High School Symphonic Orchestra (some top band students are also
chosen to be in this group)
TSSEC - Texas State Solo & Ensemble Contest (some band students will qualify
to compete at the state level of solo & ensemble contest)
WE - Wind Ensemble (the top/honors band of the 5 bands at Taylor)
