MUM-A-MIAS ARE HARD AT
WORK ON HOMECOMING 2009!!!
| |
UPDATE as of 9.15.09:
All Mum Distribution & Mum Sales positions are filled... but we are
in desperate need of Mum Makers! Please join us so that this
project can continue to be the successful fundraiser that JET Band is
counting on! Mum Sales are now over!
We had to cut off sales 3 days early to avoid taking more
orders than we can reasonably produce before Homecoming! We really
need YOUR help!
BACKS, BEARS, TAILS, AND TRINKETS:
The Mum Moms have finished pulling all the parts
needed to assemble the mum orders and there are some parts left
over. If you are interested in buying items to make your own mum
or garter, come by the 160 hall between 3 and 6 PM on Monday,
September 21. Monday is for band students only; we will sell to
the rest of the school on Tuesday, so come early for the best
selection!

It's almost here... HOMECOMING!
That means awesome, one-of-a-kind
Mums and Garters made
by the Taylor Band
Mum-a-Mias. They have been working all summer and will continue
working right up until Homecoming, which is on
October 2, 2009.
Homecoming
Mums are JET Band's biggest, most successful fundraiser of the year, and
it takes many volunteers to make it a success...
We need YOUR help now! |

WHO: Everyone! No
experience is required to work on mums, and our expert Mum-a-Mia's will
be happy to train you. We need all levels of workers,
novices and experts alike can help. Many of the jobs are as easy
as measuring lengths of ribbon and cutting. Hanging out with the
Mum-a-Mias has some great added benefits as well -- you can get advice
on just about anything to do with high school and beyond, not to mention
all the latest news on what the kids are up to, favorite teachers,
getting ready for college applications, and more -- you name it, one of
the Mum-a-Mias or their child has done it! And if you aren't the
artsy-craftsy type, then help us sell mums to Taylor students. Mum
sales are easy and fun, not to mention giving you a great reason to hang
out at lunch or after school and get the full scoop on what's going on.
We also need volunteers to help with quality control and distribution of
finished mums. There's a job for everyone!
A big thank-you to the
mum committee chairs who have stepped forward for 2009-2010:
Patricia Maurin - Purchasing/Inventory/Order Forms &
Overall Chairperson, mums@jetband.org
Mary Ann Begbie - Bears,
mums.bears@jetband.org
Cindy Crochet - Finances,
mums.finance@jetband.org
Florine Klussmann - Sales,

Shelly Chetty - Photography/Advertising,
mums.ads@jetband.org
Brenda Gust - Quality Control,
mums.qc@jetband.org
Mary Mahon & Sheryl Ray - Distribution,

We still need volunteers in every area
and hope you will consider joining in.
Please review the
Mum Committee Job Descriptions to see where YOU could contribute!
WHEN: Click for the
Mum Making Schedule
and the
Mum Selling Schedule. We would love for you to
join us on any scheduled workday, come when you can and leave when you
need to! E-mail us at mums@jetband.org or
call one of the contact numbers on the schedule if you need more
information. For mum sales, we do need a commitment in
advance. If you can help us take orders (there's no real
"selling" involved!), please e-mail Florine at
mums.sales@jetband.org or call
281-492-6430. We will be selling in the Main Commons and Freshman
Center at lunch, and after school in the Fine Arts Hallway. See
the schedules for specific dates dates and times.
There are also 60 opportunities to give the JET Band 1 ½ - 2 hours of
your time immediately after school or in the evenings to distribute
completed mums. Click for the
Mum Distribution Schedule to see where you
can help. If you’re unable to come to the school but would like to get
involved, we also need volunteers to notify students that their mums are
ready for pick-up. This requires 15 – 20 minutes making phone calls from
a list emailed to you. To schedule a time to distribute mums in the
Commons or to make phone calls, please e-mail
mums.distribution@jetband.org.
WHERE: The Mum Room is next to THS classroom 164. Go as if you
are going to room 164, and just before you get to the computer lab, go
into the door to the right. Click
here
for a map of the school showing the location of classroom 164. New
mum makers should report there. Experienced mum makers can report
to the large ensemble room in the bandhall, upstairs next to the
Directors' office. After hours, all mum makers should report to
the ensemble room. When reporting for evening or weekend mum work,
please enter the school through the double doors from the parking
garage.
MUM MOBILE:
Click
here for the Mum Mobile page. Order forms are available there,
plus photos of everything on the cart, as
well as samples and examples, so you can do some advance planning from
home before placing your order.
Please come join in the fun! The Mum-a-Mias work hard but
also have a great time working together -- ask any one of the 50+
volunteers who've joined us over the last 5+ years. The funds raised
through Homecoming Mum sales are essential to the continued excellence
of Taylor Band... please volunteer!
