MUM-A-MIAS ARE HARD AT
WORK ON HOMECOMING 2008!!!
It's already that time of year! The Fall
semester is right around the corner with marching, football season, and HOMECOMING... which means awesome, one-of-a-kind
Mums and Garters made
by the Taylor Band
Mum-a-Mias. They have been working all summer long, doing as much
pre-work on mum pieces as possible because Homecoming is VERY
early in the school year -- Friday, September 12, 2008 -- only 3
weeks after school begins!
Homecoming
Mums are JET Band's biggest, most successful fundraiser of the year, and
it takes many volunteers to make it a success...
We need YOUR help now!
WHO: Everyone!
No experience is required to work on mums, and our expert Mum-a-Mia's
will be happy to train you. We need all levels of workers, novices and experts alike can help.
And if you aren't the artsy-craftsy type, then help us sell mums to
Taylor students. Mum sales are easy and fun, not to mention giving
you a great reason to hang out at lunch or after school and get the full
scoop on what's going on. We also need volunteers to help with
quality control and distribution of finished mums.
WHEN: Click for the
Mum Making Schedule and
Mum Selling Schedule. We would love for you to
join us on any scheduled workday. It's not mandatory, but when
possible, it would help us to know in advance the days/times you will be
there to make mums so we can plan accordingly for workroom space.
E-mail us at mums@jetband.org or
call one of the contact numbers on the schedule to let us know your
preferred workdays. For mum sales, we do need a commitment in
advance. If you can help us take orders (there's no real
"selling" involved!), please e-mail Debbie at
mum.sales@jetband.org or call
281-579-3554.
WHERE: Thanks to Mr. Kendler, the Mum-a-Mias now have a workroom at the school!
The Mum Room is next to THS classroom 164. Go as if you
are going to room 164, and just before you get to the computer lab, go
into the door to the right. Click
here
for a map of the school showing the location of classroom 164. We
are also temporarily using the large ensemble room by the Band
Directors' office on the 2nd floor of the Bandhall. Experienced
mum makers should report to the 2nd floor room in the bandhall, and
novice workers should report to room 164.
WHAT'S NEXT: If you want to plan in advance of placing your order,
the mum/garter order forms are available below, plus a link to the
Mum
Mobile page from which you can link to photos of everything on the
cart, as well as samples and examples!
| The most important thing to do -- with our very early Homecoming
schedule, please encourage your kids to start thinking about homecoming
and ordering their mums or garters as soon as possible!
