     SPRING '08 SEMESTER:

  • THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!  JET Band Boosters received a check for $2,460 from BP in payment for Dale Morrison's volunteer hours in 2007!  Way to go, Dale!  And many thanks to BP for their community spirit and support!

  • DINNER CONCERT AND AUCTION - A HUGE SUCCESS!  Thanks a million to Dinner Chair, Gretchen McCormack, and Auction Chair Mari Kramer, for their outstanding leadership of this event.  Please take a moment to click here to read the chairpersons' reports and list of acknowledgments, including the businesses that supported the auction.  The grand total earned for JET Band was approximately $8,000!  Way to go!!!

  • TEACHER APPRECIATION LUNCHEON: JET Band was the host for the Teacher Appreciation Luncheon on Wednesday, Feb. 20, and once again this year, we received rave reviews from those lunching.  Many thanks to the chairpersons, Jane Brown & Beverly Bauman, and their helpers for putting on a fabulous spread for the THS teachers & staff.  Thanks to everyone who helped with set-up, decorating, serving, clean up, and cooking -- we have some great cooks in JET band who provided yummy soups, stews, gumbo, chili & desserts, and Jane even baked homemade bread and served it right out of the oven!  From all reports, everything was delicious, and the teachers thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated the meal.  Thank you parents... as usual, you make JET Band look good!!!

  • CRUSTACEAN BALL WAS FANTASTIC!!! Thanks to Mr. Howard and the Jazz Band for providing a wonderful evening of music.  Special thanks to Dale & Jackie Morrison who served as Co-Chairs of the event overall.  Thanks to all the Crustacean Ball sub-committees and their leaders:
Reservations & Administration - Russell Faldyn
Advertising - David & Karen Kessler
Ticket Sales - Trish Carlberg & Jean Chernosky
Decorations - Ellen & Robert Strauss
Drinks - Jane Brown & David & Chris Crockett
Desserts - Mary Ann Begbie & Marly Parr
       Clean Up - Vivian Phillips
       Jan Silliman - Treasurer
And of course, many thanks to all the Jazz Band parents who hosted the event and helped with all the duties that night to make the evening a huge success.

  • TAYLOR COLOR GUARD CONTEST ON APRIL 7th -- A GREAT SUCCESS!  Thanks to everyone who helped with the Contest as well as to those who provided yummy treats for our concessions sales. The event ran smoothly, plus we earned about $6,000 for JET Band! Fantastic!!!

  • SPRING GARAGE SALE on April 19th raised over $2,000 for JET Band Boosters!  We appreciate everyone who donated their recycled treasures to make the garage sale possible.  Thanks to all our volunteers who gave up part of their weekend to work the sale.  And a very special thank you to Jeff and Jan Work, Garage Sale Chairs, for organizing and running the sale.

  • THANK YOU CHAPERONES!  Our sincerest thanks to everyone who has helped with chaperoning, drying coolers, washing towels, driving trucks, or in any other "chaperoning" capacity this past year.  The Taylor band is so successful because of the great kids and supportive parents we have in our program.  We thank our Chaperone Committee, Janet Aimone and Maria Malacon, for coordinating chaperones and their related duties all year!

  • THANKS!  The generosity of Taylor Band parents is legendary, but this takes the cake!  Because of a number of very generous donations, ESPECIALLY from the Robert family, Mr. Janda was able to order 12 marching baritones and have them here in time for summer band!  The JET Band will be looking and sounding VERY cool on the field!  Thank you, thank you, thank you!

     FALL '07 SEMESTER:

  • The 2nd annual JET Band Burger Bash @ Rhodes Stadium on August 18, 2007 was a great success. The rain didn't dampen the spirits of the JET Band Faithful and the Band looked great!  Special thanks to Sherry Piché & Julie McInnis for organizing our first event of the year. Special thanks to the "grillers" -- those 1200+ burgers and dogs were cooked just right! -- and to the servers and clean-up committee.

  • The Band Booster Garage Sale on Saturday, September 22, 2007, was a great success, raising more than $3,000 for Band Boosters!  A huge thank you goes to Jan and Jeff Work, Garage Sale Chairs, and to everyone who volunteered and/or donated items.  Your contribution of time, effort, and your recycled treasurers are greatly appreciated!

  • A zillion thanks to the Mum-a-Mias for a record-setting year for Homecoming Mums!  2007 Mums raised over $18,000, and the continuation of Mums -- the Band Bear Ornaments -- raised another $1,600 so far!  Please read about this phenomenal accomplishment on the Mums page and thank the hardworking Mum moms when you see them.

  • Thanks to Tammy & Mike Johnson, Ellen & Paul Yates, and all their helpers for a successful and fun Masquerade Party on November 9, 2007.  There were some great costumes and skits, delicious treats, and scavenger hunt fun.  KCM really appreciated the donations, too!

  • The first-ever JET Band Alumni Reunion on November 3, 2007 was awesome!  Many people contributed to the success of the day, and we thank them all.  We owe a very special thank you to the Alumni Day Coordinator, Kathy Miesner, who pulled it all together.  Attendees are already asking "when's the next one?"!

  • Another award-winning Marching Season is over... we couldn't have done it without our wonderful and dedicated JET Band parents!  Two committees in particular made a huge contribution to the success of the season.  We appreciate more than words can say all the parents who chaperoned the games and contests, and we give special recognition to our Chaperone Coordinators, Janet Aimone and Maria Malacon.  Another major effort in Marching Season is handled by our Uniform Committee.  The committee and their many helpers made sure that the uniforms were fitted, cleaned, and checked out and in, and even transported when necessary, at every event, all season long.  Special thanks to Cathy Delaney, Margaret Ewald, Brenda Shaver, and Susan Shaffer for their tireless leadership with uniforms.  Now that Concert Season is underway, both Chaperones and Uniforms still have jobs to do, and we hope you will respond to the call whenever they need volunteer help.
